|Tiverton Four Corners Arts Center’s Annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit
“Gestures of That Other Life” is a solo exhibition of Brooklyn-based artist Wendy Klemperer, curated by Kate Mullen.
Using salvaged steel to create her work, Klemperer displays both an innate and intellectual understanding of wildlife’s expressive gestures and their physical anatomy. The exhibit’s title is an excerpt from Providence-based poet David O’Connell’s poem, “Banished, They Return to Us”. O’Connell wrote this poem in direct response to the sculptures exhibited in this year’s show. O’Connell is the 2013 recipient of the Philbrick Poetry Award from the Providence Athenaeum.
Opening July 21, 1-3pm
This event is part of the South Coast Artist Open Studio Tour which will be taking place in Tiverton, Little Compton, Dartmouth & Westport.
Gestures of that Other Life: The Sculptures of Wendy Klemperer
Thanks to Isa Images for all photos of the exhibit!
I have an installation “Roaming Elk”, two life sized elk sculptures on the campus of Dowling College in Oakdale, NY. They were originally included in the group show “Sites for Sculpture”, curated by Pam Brown and Christina Mossaides Strassfield. When the exhibit ended in July 2013 I was requested to leave them on longterm loan.
